Thankful for Our Freedom

Although biographies are not usually my first pick,  I really enjoyed reading this book.  In it, Chai Ling tells her story about participating in a student attempt to promote a change for democracy in China. What began peacefully eventually ended in bloodshed and Chai Ling became one of China's most wanted fugitives. Her story of the Tiananmen Square is compelling, exciting and will keep you reading. From beginning to end, her struggles, trials, finding faith in Jesus Christ and coming to understand her purpose in life will captivate your attention. There is also a sad twist to this story...the reality of what is going on in China even today is very heartbreaking.  I learned alot about China, some of their laws, their one child policy, and how girls are viewed more as a problem than an asset to Chinese families.
I highly recommend this book.  It is very well written and definitely brings to light many things occurring in China even in today's world. I received this book from Tyndale Publishing Company in Exchange for my honest review. Chai Ling now has a website and a ministry to the girls of China.  You can check it out HERE.
