Though Mountains Fall - Dale Cramer

Caleb Bender has been in Mexico for several years now, after following God's calling to move a small community of Amish there. The settlement has been thriving, but their very existence may now be threatened. Family trials, bandits, government problems, and the lack of a bishop have brought much discouragement to Caleb. He is confused about God's plan for his life and not sure what to do next. Did he misunderstand God's will?
This is the third book in the series Caleb Bender's Daughters. I read the second book, The Captive Heart,  last year. It is not necessary to read the other books to catch on to the story, but of course the series would be more interesting because you would know what happened previously.   Caleb faces many challenges, but the biggest one is the one of love and forgiveness. As he deals with the mishaps and trials that come, he questions his judgement, the choices he made, and where to go from here. He does not understand God's plan, life looks bleak, and Caleb struggles. Where is God in all this?  This is not your normal, boy meets girls Amish romance. It is worth the read! The author has done a great job writing this novel inspired by actual events.

Interestingly, the author is a man. Dale Cramer has been writing fiction for a while, and is doing a great job! His stories are interesting and capture your attention. Some of them are based on personal life experiences.

This book is available on Amazon and other online retailers.

*I received this book from the publisher for the purpose of my review. I am only required to give my honest opinion.*

I read in several review that people are burnt out on Amish fiction.  I admit, I am a little burnt out on the routine boy meets girl Amish, but still enjoy reading them when the story has a slightly different twist. What about you? Do you enjoy reading Amish stories? Is there a particular author that is your favorite?

Comments

  1. I do enjoy reading some of the Amish stories but you're right sometimes they are a little old. I like it when there are twists and unexpected turns.

  2. I haven't tried this Dale's books yet, I do like historical fiction rather than modern day fiction so I think I would really enjoy this.

  3. I have this in my TBR pile, and I've read the first book, have the second, but haven't gotten to it yet. The first was so good!
    Thank YOU!

My Body's Mine helps children learn they have the rights to their body. Told through rhyme from a child's point of view this book on boundaries empowers each child to say no when others approach them in ways that make them uncomfortable. It also gives clear instructions on what to do if they are approached in an unwanted manner. The questions at the end of the book provides an easy transition for counselors and parents to open a discussion to prevent abuse or to further explore if abuse has occurred.
