Blowing on Dandelions by Miralee Ferrell - Review

Disclosure: The following post contains some book advertisement

Do dandelion wishes really come true?
Katherine Galloway knew this moment of calm wouldn’t last, blown away like the dandelion seeds she scattered as a girl. In 1880, three years after her husband’s death, she struggles to run an Oregon boardinghouse and raise two girls alone. Things don't get easier when her critical, domineering mother moves in. Katherine must make the situation work, but
standing up for herself and her family while honoring her mother isn't easy. And with a daughter entering the teenage years, the pressure on Katherine becomes close to overwhelming. Then she crosses paths with Micah Jacobs, a widower who could reignite her heart, but she fears a relationship with him might send things over the edge. She must find the strength, wisdom, hope, and faith to remake her life, for everything is about to change.

What did I think?
Personally, this book was very appealing to me. It deals with real life issues!! It was not a fast paced drama, although there were a few intense happenings in the book, that kept you guessing for a few pages as to what might happen. But for me, my take was mostly that this book is about faith, character, community, and courage. It's about love, respect and family!  I enjoyed it immensely.  The part I most disliked was having to put it down to "do" life! (Life has been busy lately, so I did not get to read it as often and quickly as I like)  There is was sooo much in this book I could relate to.  Katherine, the main character, is a hard working business woman, who has lost her husband. She is a single parent raising a teen and doing her best to make her way and support her family. Her mother, who just recently lost her daughter, June, comes to visit. This woman is a bit overbearing, and has no trouble speaking her mind (usually in a not-so-considerate manner). The way Katherine deals with this issue is very impressive, and how she sets an example for her daughter, who is struggling with how her grandmother treats her mother. It's about God's love, loving the unlovely! The author deals with some deep issues, things many of us have experienced in some form or another.  You just have to read the book!  The author includes a sneak peek of book two in the series, and I can't wait!

I received this book from TBCN in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and I am not required to give a positive review.

  1. Sometimes I just really enjoy a book that is not a face paced drama - just real life twists and turns. Looks like a book worth reading! I agree about how hard it is to juggle reading a good book with real life sometimes!

  2. Sounds like a good book. I always hate it when life gets in the way of my books! :)

  3. I need to read this book. It’s often difficult in life to figure out ways to deal with differing personalities and the expectations they place on your life. Most times I try to listen to the still small quiet voice within me and follow it, but those other louder voices of demand can overpower it a lot of times. I can relate! This sounds like a great read for me!
