About the Author:
Growing up, she had two childhood goals: She wanted to teach and She wanted to write. She even kept pen and paper on the nightstand to record my dreams before they faded each morning.  However the dreams did fade. Life intervened, and school, then commuting and work in New York City, pushed both teaching and writing aside.  But now, Ava, live is Florida and is finally fulfilling her dream of writing.
She's written for organizations such as Focus on the Family, Christianity Today, and Haven Ministries.  Ava has also been published in 24 anthologies, including seventeen Chicken Soup for the Soul books. She co-authored two children’s picture books, Do You Love Me More? and Will I See You Today?
Ava is a member of  American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and the Christian Author’s Network (CAN). And if you’re looking for a speaker, she loves to challenge audiences with relevant, enjoyable presentations.
She has been married for more than 35 years.

I was blessed with this book by TBCN and the author in exchange for my opinion. I am not required to give a positive one - only an honest one.

What did I think?
A while back I studies through Kay Arthur's book on the Names of God. It was so edifying, I wanted to read Ava's also.  Learning about the God and His character through His Name is important to me.
One aspect of this book I enjoyed was that each day there is a passage of Scripture to read. So this is not just a book with an author's thoughts, it encourages you to read and study God's Word. Then the author proceeds to expound on that passage with a thought.

God is defined by His name! The people of Israel learned that His NAME was WHO He was - His character. Ava gives her readers an awesome look into God's character in this devotional. Each day includes a passage of Scripture to read, a key verse, the devotional, a prayer and a closing thought. Just enough to digest and begin your day with focus on your Creator.

Each of God's names are examined over a three day stretch, from three viewpoints- "look up", "look in", and "look out". There are 122 characteristics or names given, so this devotional could last you a whole year taken one day at a time.

I really enjoyed diving into this devotional. It is edifying, inspiring, and a great tool for taking your relationship with God to a deeper level. This would make a great gift also or Bible Study tool.

Do you know God by His names: Adonai, Yahweh; Elohim? Do you know what they mean? Have you ever done a study on the names of God? I would love to hear from you.

My Body's Mine helps children learn they have the rights to their body. Told through rhyme from a child's point of view this book on boundaries empowers each child to say no when others approach them in ways that make them uncomfortable. It also gives clear instructions on what to do if they are approached in an unwanted manner. The questions at the end of the book provides an easy transition for counselors and parents to open a discussion to prevent abuse or to further explore if abuse has occurred.
