Melissa H.
Congratualtions!!
And thank you to all who participated.

Don't forget to enter this month's giveaway. All you have to do is comment on any or all blog posts, mentioning something you are thankful for to be entered. The more you comment the more chances you have of winning. I haven't yet decided on the prize pack, but I am thinking something nice... Maybe several prizes - so we can have several winners. I will try to announce what the prize will be mid-month. How about that? You will have to enter by faith! (smile)

I wanted to share two of my favorite books about giving thanks:
1. Choosing Gratitude
by Nancy Leigh DeMoss

This book is worth reading!!! It will totally change your outlook. I thought I was a grateful person, til I read this one. Hmmmmm..... Lots of food for thought.
Almost every year around thanksgiving, I get out Nancy s book. Trust me, no matter how hard I try to cultivate a
grateful heart, this book is a wonderful reminder, every year, of the importance of thanks-living. And it is something I struggle with.
Sometime I read the whole book and do the activities, other years I opt for the devotional in the back. It is a great way to prepare our hearts for the Christmas season and the upcoming new year.

2. One Thousand Gifts
by AnnVoskamp
One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, Hardcover - By: Ann Voskamp
Ann is the one who really got me on the grateful journey. I used to read her blog diligently. I still like to read there frequently, but as you know, life does get busy.... and we tend to get off on other rabbit trails. She remains one of those people I admire greatly.

I just finished:
Murder at the Courthouse - Review coming soon!
I really enjoyed this one even though it took me a little longer than usual to read it. Mostly due to how busy I was with other things that were priorities. I hated having to put it down.

And I am in the process of reading:

The Methuselah Project

Seems like this is going to be an interesting one!

All We Like Sheep
All-We-Like-Sheep
A devotional with sheep stories and comparisons to us as God's sheep.
Very Good!

Ishtar's Odyssey

This is an advent story. And so far I love it!
I can't wait to read this with my kids. It's going to be so much fun!

Here's a few things I am thankful for this week...
  • I finished the quilt I was working on - YAY!
  • We have had a few sick days in our family, but it was only a bug, in and out. Many people have much bigger health problems.
  • Every day, I am thankful for God's Word, forgiveness of sin, and Jesus - without him I would be nothing.
  • I am also thankful for the Publishers, Christian authors, and book clubs I have the privilege of participating with to read all these wonderful books.

Now, I would love to read about something you are thankful for. Don't forget this month every comment you leave including something you are grateful for earns you a chance to win our special prize. You can also comment on the Facebook Page.

  1. Thankfulness is something I work on with my kids too. That is one thing that is totally lacking with our kids today. It is hard to remember to live with a grateful/thankful heart. I to am very thankful for the publishers and authors I get to review for. There books have made me a stronger Christian and also give me comfort and hope in hard times

Night Night Farm by Amy Parker w/ Giveaway - Ended

Congratulations to our Winner - Lynne In  Night Night , Farm by Amy Parker, parents and little ones will unwind as sweet farm animals in pj's say goodnight to their farm, their mommies and daddies, and to God. Rhyming verse, calming artwork, and whimsical renditions of favorite farm animals in their cozy beds will make this bedtime book a favorite for years to come. My Thoughts: This book is so adorable. I am already loving that one day I will be able to use it with my grandchildren. It is a hard back padded type cover. The pages are board book style with beautiful illustrations, brightly colored and full of the most adorable farm animals you've ever seen. They will capture your heart, as well as you child's.  Each page consists of a different animal going to sleep, written in poetic style with the animal sound and name of the animal at then end of each prose. The last page affirms how God made all these animals and "me too"! The child will learn about

My Body's Mine by Kayla Marnach

My Body's Mine helps children learn they have the rights to their body. Told through rhyme from a child's point of view this book on boundaries empowers each child to say no when others approach them in ways that make them uncomfortable. It also gives clear instructions on what to do if they are approached in an unwanted manner. The questions at the end of the book provides an easy transition for counselors and parents to open a discussion to prevent abuse or to further explore if abuse has occurred.
