My One Word for the New Year

My One WORD for 2016
is
INTENTIONAL
For a while now, God has been speaking to me about how I am living my life. Kind of like the waters of my creek. Just flowing along, bouncing off of this and that, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, but moving without much purpose, rhyme or reason, just at whatever speed the current conditions make it flow.

That is not how I want to be. I want to achieve goals, live intentionally, serve the Lord with purpose. Honestly, if you asked me today, where do I want to be five years from now... I don't think I could really give you an answer. I am just floating along.
In His Word, God tell us:
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
Ephesians 5:15-17
I need to walk carefully, with wisdom from above, redeeming the time, because these days are evil. (And they are not getting better)
It also tells me to
"number (my) days, that (I) may apply (my) heart unto wisdom."  Psalm 90:12
What I gather from all this, is that my days are numbered, but God has a purpose for me and I need to be INTENTIONAL in accomplishing that purpose. I don't need to just drift about even if I am accomplishing something, am I accomplishing what He wants. Am I fulfilling what He has planned for my life. Am I leaving room for Him to work, use me, act, or am I just busying myself with this and that, but not His best for me.
Our creek is a special place for me. A place where I can go spend time with my kids, relax, and learn lessons. It reminds me of God's voice as the voice of rushing waters, it reminds me how our life can change just as the flood waters change its course, and when its peaceful it reminds me of the still waters that my Shepherd leads me by.
Life is rushing by...
I want to live it intentionally

Live
            Intentionally by
 Faith
     Everyday
So these next few days, and weeks I will be setting goals, making plans for my time spent with God and in prayer, my family and home, my service in my church and ministry, my sewing business and my blog, and last but not least the healthy eating and exercise part of my life.
There may be new challenges God calls me to, there may be times of waiting, there may be things I have to drop from my schedule to free up time for other things. Only HE knows what the year holds. But I trust Him!
I don't want to do this lightly or fizzle out half way through the year. So I have chosen some verses, a new one for each month to remind me of my Word.
I have also picked a few books I want to read or re-read this year as I plan my goals.
Some of the I am listing here:

These are the ones I have chosen to list for now.
I need to be intentional in my marriage and my parenting.
I started the Best Yes already and have to say I love it!!
I am seriously considering getting the study guide to go with it.

So what about you?
I would love to hear your word for the year, or your ideas and goals for the new year.
My friends, Jesus is returning soon! Let's be the best that we can be for His kingdom.
This year could be the year of His return. How will the Master find you?

  1. I don't choose a word, I just see what word God chooses for me and then, focus on that word. My word changes throughout the year. :-) I do want to be more focused on Bible Studies and sharing God's word with others. Happy New Year!

Congratulations to our Winner - Lynne In  Night Night , Farm by Amy Parker, parents and little ones will unwind as sweet farm animals in pj's say goodnight to their farm, their mommies and daddies, and to God. Rhyming verse, calming artwork, and whimsical renditions of favorite farm animals in their cozy beds will make this bedtime book a favorite for years to come. My Thoughts: This book is so adorable. I am already loving that one day I will be able to use it with my grandchildren. It is a hard back padded type cover. The pages are board book style with beautiful illustrations, brightly colored and full of the most adorable farm animals you've ever seen. They will capture your heart, as well as you child's.  Each page consists of a different animal going to sleep, written in poetic style with the animal sound and name of the animal at then end of each prose. The last page affirms how God made all these animals and "me too"! The child will learn about

My Body's Mine by Kayla Marnach

My Body's Mine helps children learn they have the rights to their body. Told through rhyme from a child's point of view this book on boundaries empowers each child to say no when others approach them in ways that make them uncomfortable. It also gives clear instructions on what to do if they are approached in an unwanted manner. The questions at the end of the book provides an easy transition for counselors and parents to open a discussion to prevent abuse or to further explore if abuse has occurred.
