My Intentional Mondays

Do you know when I write my best posts?
In my mind, while I am in the shower, washing dishes, walking or when I am laying in the bed at night almost asleep.... Yeah... Any time or place when I cannot get to the computer to type what my brain is composing. Then, when I do sit down to write... the words don't flow, I forget what I came up with... etc...etc...
Sooooo.... What you see is what you get... (smile)
I am seriously thinking of getting myself a digital voice recorder that I can carry around with me. But do I want to get caught speaking my thoughts out loud? In a quiet room, it would be awkward, and even more awkward to play back myself. On the street, someone might think I'm nuts. And I don't suppose those recorders are water proof for the shower, nor that my family would appreciate me talking to myself when they are trying to sleep. I will have to come up with a better plan.

Well, since I had what I was going to say all figured out, until I sat down to write, I will just have to wing it again.

Spring is in the air, well, it was, kind of, but looks like snow is in the forecast again. This past week the creek flooded, once more! Ah... maybe you get tired of hearing about my creek, but honestly, I love my creek. I love the twists and turns, the calmness, the rushing waters, the noise, and everything about it, Well... almost everything, the mosquitoes in the summer are not my favorite part, but they come with the territory, I guess.

It was one of those busy weeks!! We returned to our homeschooling co-op, so once again we will be busy with that. But it is so much fun too, and the kids love it. We are doing a unit study on C.S. Lewis and his book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. And after just one week, I have already learned some new facts I did not know before.

We also went with a group of girls from church to the Secret Keeper Crazy Hair Tour with Dannah Gresh! That was a blast! Lots of crazy hair, music, fun, and life-lasting lessons on faith, modesty, being who God created you to be, and not feeling like you have to go along with the crowd and be like everyone else. Moms, if you are not familiar with the Secret Keeper Girls, I highly recommend you checking out their website and reading their books or getting them for your girls, especially if you are looking to raise godly girls in an ungodly world.

Dannah is one of my all-time favorite parenting authors. I was a bit bummed, however, that I did not get to speak to her in person, get her autograph, or get my picture taken with her. But, alas, when you are with a group.... you must make sacrifices for the good of all. And with that many girls, getting home (when you live a good distance away) is priority. Maybe... there will be a next time.

Now lets talk books...

I finally finished the Sea Keepers Daughter, which I will be reviewing this week. It took me a while to get through this book, but don't let that fool you. It was amazing! The time it took wasn't due to lack of interest, it was mostly just because I like to process what I read, and this book contained so much interesting detail that I didn't want to miss any of it. So, I just took my good ol' time and soaked it up. It required a bit of focus and sometimes that is hard to do with a house full.

I am currently reading:
The Body Under the Bridge by Paul McCusker. He has written quite a few books for Focus on the Family. My son has really enjoyed them. This is not a kids book, although I guess it could be read by young adults. and maybe even older children. It is a Scotland Yard type mystery about the discovery of a 200 year old body and a feud between families that goes back many years. So far, I am enjoying it.



I am hoping to finish up Thin Ice this week and review it by Friday. But we will see what time allows.
