Happy New Year!!

2017
It's the beginning of a new year!
Have you made new years resolutions?
I am not really making any...
I do have some goals

  • Devoting more time to concentrated prayer
  • Eating Healthier
  • Improving my organizational skills
  • Working on improving/expanding my sewing business
  • Focusing on celebrating a specific day of rest (Sabbath) to tune in to God and family
I also plan on making a few subtle changes to the blog this year. They may or may not be noticeable to my readers, but hopefully these changes will be an improvement and a stress reliever for me.

I love blogging, but I have over-committed myself too many times lately with all the great books that have been available. This year I am planning on cutting back a bit, blogging posts Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays with a few exceptions. As much as I love reading and blogging, it is time consuming and takes a lot of time away from other projects I need and want to be working on, and from my family time. The kids are getting older and time seems so short.
So, I will be working on saying, "No" to myself and my love for books, when I am presented with too many choices and tempted to take on more than I can handle efficiently. And instead choose wisely and specifically those things which will benefit my family, myself, and bring joy.

How about you?
Have you made any new years resolutions? What goals have you set for this year?
I would love to hear about them.

  1. Great goals with both spiritual and physical impact! I should just copy your list and make it mine also, Amy - except for the sewing, that is. I had a similar book-related goal last year, only to discover how difficult (impossible?) it is to turn down books that sound good. Then I get frustrated at not having time to read some books that I think would be outstanding. I hope you'll blog periodically about how these goals are working out. I love keeping up with you, Amy!

    1. Thanks for your encouragement Carole. I myself make this goal every year it seems, then somewhere along the way... I get carried away and am back in the same rut, where I feel like I don't even have time to enjoy the books I am reading but am rushing through them. And I get frustrated too! Writing the reviews also takes time, which is of course worth it to get to read all these awesome books, but I need to remember that! It's not just the reading, but putting my thoughts into words.
I cherish your friendship and enjoy keeping up with you also! Many blessings to you in this new year.

Congratulations to our Winner - Lynne In  Night Night , Farm by Amy Parker, parents and little ones will unwind as sweet farm animals in pj's say goodnight to their farm, their mommies and daddies, and to God. I am already loving that one day I will be able to use it with my grandchildren. It is a hard back padded type cover. The pages are board book style with beautiful illustrations, brightly colored and full of the most adorable farm animals you've ever seen. They will capture your heart, as well as you child's.  Each page consists of a different animal going to sleep, written in poetic style with the animal sound and name of the animal at then end of each prose. The last page affirms how God made all these animals and "me too"! The child will learn about

My Body's Mine by Kayla Marnach

My Body's Mine helps children learn they have the rights to their body. Told through rhyme from a child's point of view this book on boundaries empowers each child to say no when others approach them in ways that make them uncomfortable. It also gives clear instructions on what to do if they are approached in an unwanted manner. The questions at the end of the book provides an easy transition for counselors and parents to open a discussion to prevent abuse or to further explore if abuse has occurred.
