Prayer Works - Review and GIVEAWAY - *ENDED*

Winner - Chickie Brewer

What’s Your Strategy?

As kids grow, their prayer life needs to grow too—but how? Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick offer a strategy that kids can use to figure out how prayer works and just how powerful it is. Lots of great explanation is combined with fun activities, illustrations, and journaling prompts to get kids thinking and praying.
This companion book to the movie War Room contains 32 perforated journal pages kids can use to write specific prayers and then post them on the walls in their prayer room—just like the characters in the movie.

Topics include:

  • What is prayer?
  • Why should I pray?
  • Where do I pray?
  • Is there a wrong way to pray?
  • What should I pray for?
  • Does God really hear me?

I was blessed with this book in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts:
I really like this book. It's hard back cover with some very beautifully illustrated pictures. After a brief introduction encouraging kids to pray, there are ten chapters on prayer covering things such as -what, where, when, and why, about prayer. Does God hear me? Do my prayers matter? All written on a level an 8-12 year old can understand. Each devotional includes a Bible verse, along with the devotion about prayer. At then end of each day and section with thoughts and prayer prompts as well as encouragement to pray.

The back of the book has essential information on how to put your prayer to work. It includes a prayer journal where kids can keep track of their prayers and answers to prayer. It also includes a page on salvation and another on the Lord's prayer. There are at least 20 pages to journal on, with prayer prompts such as making a list of family members, friends, and others who need prayer to faith like a mustard seed, spiritual growth and things they are thankful for. This book ties in with the War Room movie coming out this month. (August) And includes an explanation of the War Room logo in the back.

I would recommend this book! My ten year old son has begun using it some during his daily devotions. Since he is used to reading a little more than this book has per devotion - most of them are short, he uses it to accompany his other devotional book. I am excited about what he will be learning about prayer through the use of this book.

This Means War - Review and GIVEAWAY- *ENDED*

Winner: Heather S. You’ve got battles to fight—on your knees. The teen years can be tough; don’t try to make it through without one of your most powerful weapons—prayer. A companion book to the movie War Room, this new kind of journal will get you ready for a new kind of prayer life, one that’s strong, growing, and reflects just how powerful prayer is. Each short chapter tackles one of the biggest questions teens have about prayer, questions such as: Why pray, anyway? What should I pray for? Are selfish prayers okay?Who should I pray for? Am I really supposed to pray for my enemies too? Will God listen? And will He answer? Just-right journaling prompts will then get you thinking—and praying—and reinforce the real power of fighting battles on your knees.
