Made for the Journey by Elisabeth Elliot

In her first year as a missionary to a small group of native women in the Ecuadorian jungle, Elisabeth Elliot faced physical and spiritual trials. In  Made for the Journey , Elliot captures the mysteries and stark realities surrounding the colorful and primitive world in which she ministered. More than just a recounting of her early days, this is a beautifully crafted and deeply personal reflection on the important questions of life and a remarkable testimony to authentic Christian obedience to God. White Queen of the Cannibals - Mary Slessor

White Queen of the Cannibals: The Story of Mary Slessor of Calabar by A.J. Bueltmann My rating: 4 of 5 stars I have always loved the story of Mary Slessor. I read this book when I was young and re-read it recently to my children. They enjoyed every bit of it. It is full of adventure, and danger as Mary boldly proclaims the gospel of Jesus. It is written in a simple way, and kids can easily understand it. Mary Slessor has always been one of my "real-life heroes". My son (8) was captivated by the jungles, wild animals, un-civilized people and the dangers Mary went through to win those people to the Lord. She was so brave and courageous. She sacrificed her life, even the possibility of marriage to serve her Savior. This book really makes you think! I could read this book multiple times and be blessed by it! Warning... Make sure children are prepared for cannibalism, and some other graphic descriptions if they are very young. (I downloaded a free Kindle copy from Amazon) Vi...

Radical Faith - Outrageous Courage

Tracy Evans, a physician assistant, has treated rebel guerrillas while captive on an Asian island. She's sipped tea in a Mozambican hut while bullets whistled through the grass walls. She's cared for 900 HIV-positive orphans. In these pages you will find not only gripping, un-embellished true stories of Tracy's exploits around the globe, but the more amazing account of what God can do with--and through--one person's raw faith and obedience. Tracy's life has had an unbelievable impact on us, our families and our friends. We pray that you, too, will be inspired to radical obedience, faith adventures and wild trust in God’s power and purpose for your life. Put on your seat belt and let the journey begin!   -Kris and Jason Vallotton
