White Queen of the Cannibals - Mary Slessor

White Queen of the Cannibals: The Story of Mary Slessor of Calabar by A.J. Bueltmann My rating: 4 of 5 stars I have always loved the story of Mary Slessor. I read this book when I was young and re-read it recently to my children. They enjoyed every bit of it. It is full of adventure, and danger as Mary boldly proclaims the gospel of Jesus. It is written in a simple way, and kids can easily understand it. Mary Slessor has always been one of my "real-life heroes". My son (8) was captivated by the jungles, wild animals, un-civilized people and the dangers Mary went through to win those people to the Lord. She was so brave and courageous. She sacrificed her life, even the possibility of marriage to serve her Savior. This book really makes you think! I could read this book multiple times and be blessed by it! Warning... Make sure children are prepared for cannibalism, and some other graphic descriptions if they are very young. (I downloaded a free Kindle copy from Amazon) Vi

Ring of Secrets by Roseanna White - Review

This exciting romantic spy novel from Roseanna M. White combines fascinating cloak-and-dagger secrets with a tale of love and intrigue during the Revolutionary War. Winter Reeves is an aristocratic Patriot forced to hide her heart amid the Loyalists of the City of New York. She has learned to keep her ears open so she can pass information on British movements to Robbie Townsend, her childhood friend, and his spy ring. If she's caught, if she's hung for espionage…well, she won't be. Robbie has taught her the tools of the trade: the wonders of invisible ink, drop locations and, most importantly, a good cover.

The Hunt for the Devil's Dragon - Review

Africa, Roman soldiers, and dragons... What do all these things have to do with friendship? Well, you will have to read this one to find out. They are faced with danger, wild creatures, crazy people, and the adventure of a lifetime; all to learn a lesson.  In Patrick and Beth's adventure they learn how to be courageous and stand up for what they believe in, after meeting Sir Georgious.
