This is my first book by Denise Hunter. I enjoyed the plot itself.- Military hero comes home as an amputee, struggling with his inner self. There were some things I liked about this book, and some I didn't really care for. Sister Eve is a nun/detective. She has a knack for solving crimes and although she is currently still a nun, she is also working as a detective for her father's agency. In this book, she is at the convent where she used to live for a convention. Dr Kelly Middlesworth,  a religious researcher, is supposed to be speaking at a conference there, but ends up murdered instead. Detective Eve's crime solving habits kick in, and she ends up on the trail of a possible killer. I liked the plot, it was unique and different from any book I've read. For the most part, it was interesting and kept me wondering who did it and what would happen next. I was pretty sure I knew who did it from the start, but the author did a pretty good job of promoting various alternative options that kept me guessing. The Witnesses by Robert Whitlow When I started this book, I was intrigued with the story. Then it suddenly changed, so I was a bit skeptic; but when it all tied together, it made perfect sense. I was totally into the story by about a quarter of the way through and didn't want to put this book down. I found myself reading every spare minute I could find, and didn't want to put it down. This is my first Laura McNeill read, and I was not disappointed. She kept me on the edge of my seat, not wanting to put it down, suspensefully awaiting the "who-done-it" revelation. There were two main characters that appeared guilty, one from the get-go and one revealed slowly; but the battle to discovery was back and forth between them the entire time.
