Shepherd, Potter, Spy and the Star Namer by Peggy Consolver

Keshub, a young shepherd boy, lives adventure every day as he defends his flock from predators and proves himself among older brothers. But tales from caravanners who stop at his family’s way-station evoke a longing for adventure beyond the horizons of his own valley in the midst of Canaan. Is he ready for the danger he will encounter when he meets the unloved son of the evil king of the Amorites? Can he deceive his own family to hide the rescued son and a member of the king’s harem? Live the tension of imminent invasion as the Hebrews approach.  Too young, by far, he becomes a spy keeping watch over the Hebrew’s movements in the Jordan Valley. Is the greater enemy the ones across the Jordan River or their neighbor, the despicable king? True to scripture and authenticated by archeological research, this tale of God’s grace puts flesh and blood on the enigmatic Gibeonites who make a treaty with Joshua.

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible by Siku & Richard

A stunning new comic book version of the Bible now given the superhero treatment by the team behind  The Lion Graphic Bible  and  The Manga Bible. The story of the Bible is a unique tale of origins and cosmic powers; of the ageless battle between good and evil; of human potential and human treachery; and of a Messiah--a savior for the world. This is indeed the stuff that graphic novels are made of. Superheroes are the biggest comic genre of all, with many heroes having their origins in biblical characterization and imagery. This is the first Bible retelling to engage with and challenge the superhero genre. The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible  is a dynamic expression of the Bible's depth and power, produced in the style of Marvel™ Comics. You've heard of Spiderman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Now meet Earthman, Lawman, Warrior Man, and many others. With dynamic illustration using a range of styles, Siku (Old Testament) and Jeff Anderson (New Testament) bring the Bible stor

Looking Forward...

WoW!!! I can't believe Christmas is over and the New Year is almost here. In spite of my best intentions, last week went by in a flurry of activity and I just couldn't seem to get any blogging done. But I did finish up a book or two, so this week, Lord willing, should be filled with reviews. Our creek behind our house is full and roaring with all this rain we are having. And boy, what weather? I don't know what part of the country you are in but seems like each area is having it's own unique weather issues. Ours seems to be warmer than usual temps and lots of rain! I can't say I am not enjoying the warm weather though since I am not much of a winter person, and the cold will come... soon enough. But all the rain can get a bit on the depressing side after a while. God is still on the throne though and He knows what He is doing!

Now, he will not get to work on a dinosaur dig this summer, and must keep an eye on his younger sister every day, too.     Then he meets Casey Tucker, and his zoologist aunt. Here is a boy whose responsibility is to entertain a monkey from NASA (vacationing at the zoo) for several hours a day. But Casey's secret mission is to search for a legendary scientist that went missing years before, while working on a classified space project. At first, it's only fun and games. But it isn't long before the friends discover... How dangerous som
