You Won't Be Able to Put This One Down!

Memphis, 1939. Twelve-year-old Rill Foss and her four younger siblings live a magical life aboard their family’s Mississippi River shantyboat. But when their father must rush their mother to the hospital one stormy night, Rill is left in charge—until strangers arrive in force. Wrenched from all that is familiar and thrown into a Tennessee Children’s Home Society orphanage, the Foss children are assured that they will soon be returned to their parents—but they quickly realize the dark truth. At the mercy of the facility’s cruel director, Rill fights to keep her sisters and brother together in a world of danger and uncertainty.

Summer, Kids, and Obedience

The pond is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to read. It used to be poolside, but considering, this year our pool management has been the pits and the pool has developed pond like characteristics - only without the fish, we have not been doing any swimming in it. There has however been quite a bit of tadpole catching and baby frogs hopping about, so how can summer get more educational than that. (LOL) The kids actually enjoy fishing, so we use my mother-in-laws pond and they even get in a little swimming. But the fishing comes first because it's a bit hard to catch one after you scared them all off by jumping off the dock a few times.

Stepping on Cheerios Tour and Giveaway

Family life is beautiful and motherhood is a privilege, but it ain't no picnic! Being a mother isn't easy. Sometimes it's hard to experience a personal connection with God and community when you are caught up in the chaos of just "doing family". Independent and self-sufficient, author Betsy Singleton Snyder lived a full and busy life as a pastor, missionary, and wife to a husband who served in the U.S. House of Representatives. She had her first child at age 44, then at 47, she found out she was carrying triplets. Suddenly finding herself overwhelmed is an understatement. Stepping on Cheerios  is a collection of funny, warm, and charming tales from the frontlines of parenthood, written for women who are juggling to accomplish everyday feats of

Inspirational Book

Dwight L. Moody takes us deep into Scripture and paints a clear picture of what ought to be an individual’s life for Christ. The call for each Christian is to become an active member in the body of Christ. The motive is love for the Lord and our neighbor. The result will be the salvation of men, women, and children everywhere. Dwight L. Moody, determined to make a fortune, arrived in Chicago and started selling shoes. But Christ found him and his energies were redirected into full-time ministry. And what a ministry it was. Today, Moody's name still graces a church, a mission, a college, and more. Moody loved God and men, and the power of a love like that impacts generations.

Confident Mondays

Confidence  trusting in Christ's sufficiency over my own 2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we all, ... are being transformed into His image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." Seems like God is always testing us, challenging us, and molding us into His character. This year my word is Confidence. O ver and over, I have seen that Confidence is not something about myself that I develop or achieve, instead it is trusting in Christ and what He can do through me. At the end of last year and the beginning of this year, I had a proposed challenge to accomplish - re-designing a wedding gown. A friend of mine's daughter was getting married. She wanted to use her mother's wedding gown, but update it to a more modern look. In my own strength and ability I had no confidence, but with the Lord's help I was able to do it. It was so exciting to watch her walk down the aisle. More recently, God has allowed other challenges in my
