Seasons of Opportunities

I am linking up here with the Five Minute Friday community. Once we get our "word" for the day - we have five minutes to write. No editing, just what flows from the heart. Ready, Set, Start! Last night my son was talking to me at bed time. The TV was going, he should have been brushing his teeth, my daughter and I were  reading a book, and someone was texting me... OVERLOAD!!!

TEN lepers along the road                 ... pleading with Jesus for healing TEN lepers healed BUT... Only one gave thanks! How often do I get what I ask Him for and forget to give thanks? Daily my blessings abound and yet is my heart truly grateful? Or do I spend time complaining about what I don't have, don't like, can't do? Satan will tempt our hearts with ungrateful attitudes and if we are not careful we will take for granted what God has so graciously given ... the good and even what may seem bad. Blessings abound... stop and count them.

For some reason with the word prompt "WORLD" the above song came to mind. And in a sense it is a "small" world. A long time ago... when I was younger... and on the mission field with my parents, the world did not seem so small.  Leaving my friends there to come here - a world away, was not fun or easy. It was heartbreaking. It

The last few days I have been reading in, one of my favorite books, the book of Colossians. As soon as I read today's prompt, this verse immediately came to mind: " Pray for us, that God may open a door of opportunity for our message, so we may proclaim the mystery of Christ..." Colossians 4:3

Ready Set Start! Do you ever just want to run and hide? This week I have definitely felt like hiding. Life has just been hard and I am weary! Dragging myself out of bed every day has not been an easy feat. Usually, I am upbeat, motivated, and excited about life.  But the last few weeks, It seems like hiding under the covers or the bed, ignoring the world, or crawling in a deep, dark hole for a few days would be easier than getting up and cheerfully facing life.

As I read the word last night - GOOD - the first thing that came to mind was: "That's the perfect word for Good Friday."  The next thing that came to mind was: "Everyone is going to be writing about Good Friday because it is Good Friday." So I started thinking of other ideas. The best one I had was "Oh taste and see that God is Good." Yet, as I was reading my devotions this morning, I began to think about the Good News! Yes - the Good News as the Scriptures tell us is the good news of Jesus! So today I am writing about the Good News. We are told to: ” Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. ”  Mark 16:15 (HCSB) But we can’t do that unless we know what the Gospel is.

Give me a BREAK Give me a BREAK Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar Are you singing the tune yet? It's a little too catchy! A Break!!  Isn't that what most of us feel like we need, maybe even deserve?

Today's Five Minute Friday word is   REAL What comes to mind when I think of the word "real" - REAL people We live in an unrealistic world and I think as a result we have alot of unrealistic people. Social media is awesome to a certain extent, but in some ways, I think we can become superficial or feel somewhat threatened by a bunch of fake people, and their artificial lives. REAL What is real in the world today? Pictures can be changed or fashioned to appear as something they really aren't. Movies are made to make many things seem real - that really aren't. People are not real - they put on a front - make others believe they are something they're not. The internet has many curiosities, but what is really Real? Jesus is REAL! As Christians he is what we have to offer the world. He is the only REAL way to deal with our problems and struggles in life. Do we admit our difficulties so we can share the reality of how Jesus helps us? 18  In...

Psalm 119:18 This is my first time joining the Five-Minute-Friday community, and it's actually Saturday,  and maybe I won't schedule this til tomorrow - Sunday. But I have been wanting to do this for a long time, so I'm gonna give it a shot When I saw today's word - OPEN - the first thing that popped into my head was " open my eyes that I might see ". So I looked it up to see if that was a verse or just my imagination that it was. Actually, I think it was more the words of a song, (lyrics below) but the above verse was also one I was thinking of. Open mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Oh how I want that!! As I get up in the morning to read my Bible, how I want God to open my eyes to see what HE has for me. And then... not just open my eyes, but my ears, and my heart as well. I also want to practice what I read, and apply it to my life. ...
