"Delight yourself in the Lord,

and He will give you the desires of your heart"

Psalm 37:4

Wow! This book is all about that! When I requested this book, I had no idea what an amazing book it would be. I just thought that possibly it would be good for my teenage daughter to read, since she is at what some people would consider, dating age. This book has definitely brought to light the importance of praying for her and her future mate, even with no particular prospects in mind at the moment. I certainly wish I had this insight when I  was younger.

In today's day and age, I believe girls are under much pressure to give in to the ways of the world and settle for less than God's best. This book is proof that prayer works, not only in the lives of those we are praying for, but also in the hearts of those doing the praying. Robin and Tricia give wonderful testimonies of how God worked in their personal lives as they prayed for their future mates. The book is written from two totally different perspectives, and shows how God can use us, no matter what our past, when we are surrendered to Him and pray. He hears our hearts and knows our needs. I love how this book begins by impressing the number one thing a young lady should pray for her future mate is that he will have a heart for God. Salvation should always at the top of a Christian girl's list for a mate. But the book also goes on to give many other ways a young lady should pray for her mate; including, but not limited to, trust, understanding, contentment, strength, loyalty and faithfulness. Each chapter has an excerpt from the author's lives, letters written by girls who prayed and how God answered their prayers, and a prayer to follow. At the end of each chapter there are questions. The authors encourage the girls to journal their prayers for their future mates, or even write them letters. My favorite thing, though, is that these two authors stress the importance of being totally sold out to God and giving Him full control over choosing a future mate, however scary that may sound. They emphasize the importance of purity, waiting on God's timing, making Him number one, and trusting that husband or no husband He knows what is the very best for us.

I will definitely be giving a copy of this book to my sixteen year old daughter, and using it as a guide to pray with her about her future husband. This would be a great book not only for the young ladies who are dreaming of getting married one day, but also for those who have already found the person they believe God wants them to marry. It would be a great tool for those working with youth.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Group in exchange for my honest review.
