This novel is a spell-bounding, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat book. I had never read this author before, but am very impressed. Her writing style is easy to read, captivating and hold the audience. I really didn't want to put it down... but duties call first. I did pick it up to read every chance I got though.
The author Candice Calvert is a former ER nurse and author of Mercy Hospital Series. This book is in a new series called Grace Medical Series. Her medical dramas offer readers a chance to "scrub in" on the exciting world of emergency medicine. She is a wife, mother, grandmother and lives in northern California. You can learn more about her at her website.
Trauma Plan is novel about a former ER nurse -Riley Hale - who is now an ER chaplain due to injuries sustained in an brutal attack on hospital grounds. She is working hard to regain her strength and abilities so she can once again practice ER nursing. She accepts an offer to work as a volunteer at a free medical clinic in a mostly up class neighborhood run by Dr. Jack Travis. Each character in the book has things in their past that affect or hinder their current situations. Things they have run from or would like to forget. Actions they are fighting to redeem. As Riley and Jack begin to "hit it off" tension over the clinic, neighbors are not too happy with its location and the kind of people who seem to be drawn to it, and issues from his past surface threatening to put a glitch in their relationship.
Can Riley trust her heart? Will God hive her back all she feels she has lost? Will her fears subside so she can live again?
I totally enjoyed this book. And the ending was great... I don't want to give it away, but it is amazing to see the way God works in the lives of these characters is also applicable to the way God works in our lives also. He has a plan... We just need to trust Him, and follow what we know is right and what he wants us to do to serve Him. The outcome whether what we think we want or something far better He has planned is always for His glory and our growth.

If you are interested in downloading a free e-book from Candice's other series (Mercy Hospital), you can download the book Code Triage on Amazon. (I am not sure for how long, so get it soon!)
