The Prophet by R. J. Larson - Review

Ela Roeh of Parne does not understand why her beloved Creater, the Infinite, wants her to become His prophet. She's undignified, bad tempered, and only seventeen - not to mention that no prophet of Parne has ever been a girl. Yet after experiencing His presence, she can't imagine living without Him!  Ela begins a journey to tell the city of Istgard that the Infinite sees their evil ways. They have turned their back on Him and He calls them to repentance. If they do not repent He will bring consequences for their actions.  Ela suffers many things, is imprisoned, and expects death at any time. Yet, she learns to trust her Creator, who protects her as she goes against the most difficult people to share His will. While on her journey, she meets a young man by the name of Kien, who is also on a mission. As they form an unexpected partnership, Ela must balance the feelings in her heart with the leading of the Infinite.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The way the I...

An Amish Mystery

I love to read Amish fiction. I recently received an Amish mystery from Zondervan Publishers.  I had never read a book quite like this one. The Perfect Square is part of a series of mysteries based on a small town of Shipshewana in Indiana. This is a close knit community of Amish along with some Englisher friends, who have already been previously involved in several mysteries together.  This book is interesting in the fact that it involves more than one mystery - a murder and a missing child - the possibility that one mystery could solve the other.   Unexpectedly, one of the well known, highly regarded characters, Reuben is arrested for murder after a young girl is found dead in a pond on his property. For reasons he cannot divulge he refuses to talk to friends, his lawyer, or the authorities about what happened. Close friends, Callie (Englisher) and Deborah (Amish) work together to discover the truth and have Reuben released before its too late and he is convicted ...

Battle Awareness

If you are a Christian Woman, this book is for YOU! Lately in Sunday School and at home I have been studying a little more about spiritual warfare. A battle in the heavens, forces of evil, strongholds...  It is amazing how much this applies to our every day life, and yet we seem to be a bit oblivious to it.  As we go about our day to day lives as women, taking care of our children, doing laundry, working, running carpools to games and other activities, how could this apply to us?  Mary DeMuth brings balance and insight to the often murky realm of spiritual warfare. She helps us women embrace the abundant life God has for us, and helps us find our voice. Spiritual warfare is not about cowering from the Devil. It is about being aware of the war going on around us and finding freedom and beauty in the midst of devastation.  It's about the power of God to heal our hearts, move mountains and intercede when we are weary. It's about TRUTH! Here are a few thin...

Very Cool Inspirational Totes from Dayspring

I just LOVE my new tote bag from Dayspring Inspired Deals.  I just recently received from Dayspring a beautiful Oil Cloth Tote Bag. It is a reminder that with God we have HOPE . My totes inspirational quote says. Hope for the best. God's in the habit of giving it .  And includes the verse: Matthew 6:8 " Remember, your Father knows exactly what you need before you ask Him! "  What a great way to be a witness to our Heavenly Father's goodness. When people notice this tote they will not only be asking where it came from but it will be an opportunity to share JESUS!  The tote is very good quality. I love the pink interior print with pockets and plenty of room for whatever I need to carry along. The bottom and sides of the bag have a contrasting colored print that accentuates the design.  This is the interior and lower pictures of this beautiful bag.  I also received from Dayspring another tote to use to bless someone. I chose to bless a goo...

Does God Hear Me?

“Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I have spoken ... and because you tore your robes and wept in My presence, I have heard you declares the LORD.”    2 Kings 22:19 I love this verse because YES when out hearts are humble ... He DOES hear!

Review and Giveaway - Princess with a Purpose

Is Becoming a Princess a Fairy Tale or Reality? All little girls (and sometime us older girls) dream of becoming a princess, or pretend that to be princesses. In this amazing book by Kelly Chapman, little girls learn how they can become REAL princesses.  It is a great tool to teach our younger daughters about being a REAL princess, the daughters of the KING of Kings.  Caroline lives with her Nana and four year old sister. She, like all other girls her age, loves all things "princess", and dreams of becoming a real princess. Caroline and her sister go to Princess Prep School at the Castle of Calvary to learn how to become real princesses. Caroline feels a little left out when she does not exactly "fit in" with some of the other girls at prep school. She has no idea how she will ever become a princess when she hasn't the finest things, nor a mother or father. But Caroline finds out beauty is not the way you look or what you wear. Real lasting beauty comes fr...
