White Queen of the Cannibals - Mary Slessor

White Queen of the Cannibals: The Story of Mary Slessor of CalabarWhite Queen of the Cannibals: The Story of Mary Slessor of Calabar by A.J. Bueltmann
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have always loved the story of Mary Slessor. I read this book when I was young and re-read it recently to my children. They enjoyed every bit of it. It is full of adventure, and danger as Mary boldly proclaims the gospel of Jesus. It is written in a simple way, and kids can easily understand it. Mary Slessor has always been one of my "real-life heroes". My son (8) was captivated by the jungles, wild animals, un-civilized people and the dangers Mary went through to win those people to the Lord. She was so brave and courageous. She sacrificed her life, even the possibility of marriage to serve her Savior. This book really makes you think! I could read this book multiple times and be blessed by it! Warning... Make sure children are prepared for cannibalism, and some other graphic descriptions if they are very young. (I downloaded a free Kindle copy from Amazon)
