She has a great sense of humor, and I love her writing style. But most of all I am impressed with her heart for the Lord. Alana has volunteered to give not just one, but THREE of my readers a copy of her book (e-book only)! I am so excited because
I just read her book last month and I cannot say enough about this book!! It's a MUST READ!
Here's a brief rundown of the story line:
Chung-Cha is a twelve year old North Korean girl whose father is a devout Christian and not ashamed of his faith. But that fact alone puts him and his family members in alot of danger, because North Korea is not a country with freedom of religion. Chung-Cha is imprisoned for her father's love of Jesus. The years she spend in concentration camp are tough on her small faith, but God has a plan for her and he does not give up.
How easy it is for us here in America who have so much, to forget what our brothers and sisters in Christ are going through in other parts of the world, just because they love the Lord. We complain about the most minuscule things, when we should count our trials "all joy" if they can be used to bring glory to our Heavenly Father and draw others to the name of Jesus. This novel will burden your heart for the Persecuted Church and encourage you to lift them in prayer.

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing story. Things like this sure put life in perspective, don't they!
ReplyDeleteAmy, I think you've just introduced us to a very inspiring book and author as well. I look forward to reading Alana's book and writing about it on my blog soon.
ReplyDelete1) I have followed Alana on Facebook, Goodreads, and her blog.
2) I have shared with several of my reading friends in various groups.
3) I am familiar with Voice of Martyrs and think we tend to be a little complacent about worship at times, in light of all that is going on around the world. One of the missionaries in India that our church supports and who I have grown to love recently had their worship interrupted by soldiers. No one was killed, but many were injured and a pastor's wife lost her baby. The city government there used to be friendly to the missionary's family, but new leaders are now in power and they live under constant fear. My friend is bold about his faith and that inspires me. I doubt we can change governments, but God is in control and we need to constantly be in prayer for our brothers and sisters around the world.
I did add Alana as a friend on FB, and have shared on my FB page. I believe that believers are going to be persecuted always. It is our job to edify them through prayer, fasting and support. All believers don’t have the same cross to bear, but we all have A cross to bear, so that lifting up the body of Christ is the way to help all believers carry out their Kingdom purpose, praying earnestly for those who are in need of God’s grace and mercy as they lift Him up that all men would be drawn unto Him; and loving each other the way that Jesus defined love through His own short time with us here on earth. That kind of love is what we do emulate amiss. It would really help believers who are persecuted for us to show each other that love, and show it even more unto them.
ReplyDeleteI met Alana on Twitter. She had posted a link that led to her blog about her son, Silas. We are friends on FB as well. I read her book, "A Boy Named Silas" very amazing story! Can't wait to read this book of hers as well!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I think things are going to get worse rather than better for the persecuted church and we will be seeing more and more of it in this country. This cannot however keep us from praying like we have never prayed before.
