The Lord of the Infield Flies by Steven Reilly

The Lord of the Infield Flies  will thrill readers with Coach Steve Reilly’s harrowing, challenging, and adventuresome baseball team’s trek from Connecticut to play in Maine. As a prequel to his award winning memoir,  The Fat Lady Never Sings , Reilly, a high school baseball coach, narrates the true story from the beginning of his coaching career at the age of 20. In summer 1977, Reilly plans to take his high-school-age team on a weekend trip to the baseball mecca on Cape Cod to play a Massachusetts all-star team. When plans go awry, he jumps at an offer to take the players instead to the serene surroundings of southern Maine to play that state’s all-star team. Most of the team’s starters decline; their hearts had been set on “The Cape.” Determined to go through with his commitment, Reilly gathers ten players to make the four-hour trip in a cabin truck and his car on a Friday night. Will the team arrive in time to battle Maine’s best the following morning?

How To Eat Your ABC's by Theresa A McKeown

In this colorfully illustrated ABC children's book, narrated by BuzzBee, kids will learn about a variety of delicious nutritious foods they can eat. Theresa has included some pretty common ones such as Apples, Berries, Carrots and more, as well as, some you may not be familiar with such as Ugli Fruit and Indian Cress, an edible flower. I will let you guess what she came up with for letters Q and X. Written in a rhyming, poetic style Theresa tells a little about each food, where to find it, how to eat it, etc... This is greatly educational for moms who are looking to eat more nutritiously, and get their kids involved in a fun manner. Kids will love to look for these foods at a local store and try some they never had after reading this book. This book is well illustrated and fairly easy to read. Beginner readers may struggle with the length of the book and a few more difficult words, but it could be a fun challenge, as well as, a great parent to child read. I am excited to shar...

Guest Post by Lucy the Dinosaur's Author - Joey Ahlbum

Today, I want to welcome author Joey Ahlbum to guest post on my blog. Yesterday, I featured his book series about Lucy the Dinosaur and posted my REVIEW .  Today you get to hear from the author himself about why he wrote the Lucy books.  Thank you Joey for being here. Why I wrote Lucy the Dinosaur: Lucy is an adventurer.  She wants to learn about her surroundings by getting out there and climbing, crawling, jumping, and running all over her dino world.  She wants to learn what’s behind that ridge over there.  She wants to learn what happens when dinosaurs that can’t fly try anyway.  She wants to learn how to win a staring contest with a rock. Interestingly, her curiosity is more scientific than impetuous.  She doesn’t recklessly pursue knowledge and is a planner.  She ALWAYS has a reason why she is doing something even if it doesn’t make sense.  And she is not afraid of setbacks.  That just means there’s something new to figur...

The Beloved Daughter by Alana Terry Review

In accordance with FTC requirements, I must disclose that this post contains advertisement for purchase of the following book, and that I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for reviewing it. But am only asked to give my honest opinion. In a small North Korean village, a young girl struggles to survive.Catastrophic floods have ravaged her countryside. But it is her father’s faith, not the famine of North Hamyong Province, that most threatens Chung-Cha’s well-being. Is Chung-Cha’s father right to be such a vocal believer? Or is he a fool to bring danger on the head of his only daughter?   Chung-Cha is only a girl of twelve and is too young to answer such questions. Yet she is not too young to face a life of imprisonment and forced labor. Her crime? Being the daughter of a political dissident.

A Christmas Kindness Book Blast – $25 Amazon GC + Free Books

Eight-year-old Robert is eager to share his wish list with Santa at the mall on Christmas Eve. When he meets Glenn, who has only one request for Santa, Robert is confused over what he should do. Can he cast aside what he wants and ask Santa to bring his new friend a special gift? Inspiration Behind A Christmas Kindness How is it that children have the ability to reach out and help others in ways adults don't always think to do? One year, our oldest daughter--then only eight--went door-to-door in our neighborhood collecting money for Toys for Tots. Coordinated by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve, this program collects new, unwrapped toys each year and distributes them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in our communities. This summer, my girls ran a lemonade stand so they could bring money to a local animal shelter. Why don't I think of doing such things? I guess it's easier to write a check and send it in the mail. But what effort is involved in that? My child...
