The Great Scare by Gregory James

What if, by trying to save a world that did not need saving, we accidentally destroyed it? Three hundred years after the destruction of the earth’s surface by man’s attempt at playing God, James and Lee, two post-apocalyptic, subterranean librarians, finalize their plans to travel back in time and correct all the mistakes of the past. Just one thing is keeping them from fulfilling their dreams of time-travel redemption—someone or something is stealing the town’s most valuable possessions. As the town librarians, it is their duty to solve the mystery, retrieve the stolen items, save the Sacred Napkin, and drink as mush tea as possible, all in one day, before attempting to rip a hole in the fabric of space and time to save the planet.

Mixed Feelings About This One

My children have enjoyed practically every book in this series of the Adventure of the Sea Kids . Each book has a focus and important lesson. One of their favorite things is looking for the hidden pictures on all the pages. This particular book focuses on Easter and the fact that life isn't fair. Miss Linda, the Sunday School teacher, is having an egg hunt on Easter Sunday for her class. One her students, Paul, is autistic but has a happy disposition and is loved by the whole class.

Eye Catching Creative Children's Book

Made for a Purpose   is a beautifully illustrated picture book with simple text that draws readers of all ages into the world of each animal represented. The text instills in readers the truth of God’s amazing intelligent design, leading them to think about and explore their world with the understanding that the incredible things they find all point the back to God’s vast wisdom.  This delightful book appeals to the “Why?” in every child, using it to lay a foundational understanding of God’s wisdom undergirding everything.  This is the first book in my “Joyful Creation,” series. Five books are planed for this series. All of them will use the same style of

God's Gift by Lee Ann Mancini

Just in time for the holiday season Lee Ann Mancini has released a new book in the Adventures of the Sea Kids Series . This book focuses on the  celebrations of both Christmas and Hanukkah, as two young sea creatures learn the value of both days. Christian, the sea turtle, and his family celebrate Christmas. They decorate with lights, a Christmas tree, and baby Jesus in a manger. His friend Jacob, the star fish, helps his family decorate for Hanukkah by putting up lights and the menorah. After an argument at the playground one day, about which holiday was the most important and which provided the most gifts, their parents decided to get together to show them what each holiday represented and the importance of celebrating it. In the end they both recognize that the holidays are about God and His gifts to us, and that is why we give gifts to each other.

Mission Possible by D. L. McCarragher

This book is definitely a must read for women who may be struggling in an unequally yoked marriage - whether their husbands are unsaved or saved and not living for the Lord. I found it to be very insightful and encouraging. Deborah shares her story of how she came to know the Lord before her husband and the difficulties she experienced as she attempted to live the Christian life yet still remain in her marriage to a man who didn't understand her need for God. Some of the key points in this book are the importance of recognizing God's love for our husbands, their place in our home, not alienating them because of a difference in faith, seeing them through the eyes of Jesus, praying for them. Deborah helps us see that our walk with God even more than our talk can win our husbands. She reminds us that God's heart is for our husbands and prayer along with perseverance is the key to winning them. She encourages us not to give in to discouragement, walk away, or give up just ...

Purposeful Design by Jay Schabacker - Review

I received this book in exchange for my review. A small amount of advertisement is included in the post.  Purposeful Design  beautifully reveals the principles of science that operate our world. It masterfully explains the elements of designs that make life possible, and compellingly presents evidence that a loving Creator God was purposeful in these designs. The author, Mr. Schabacker, a former aerospace scientist and businessman, seems to know the art of storytelling. The book delights the senses with beautifully depictive pictures, and easy to understand explanations of complex science concepts.
