Saturday Stitches - T-shirt Quilt

Made this quilt end of 2014 and beginning of 2015 for a friend's daughter. These are all her ball t-shirts from her high school ball playing years.  We put t-shirts on front and back. The back is a more random pattern but still has the fabric around the t-shirts. We also made shams to match with the fabrics so it would tie it all together.  Her daughter picked out the fabrics of her choice that matched her school colors and coordinated with the t-shirt colors also.  It took me about 4 months to do the front and back, then she took it somewhere to have it quilted because on my little home machine that was just not possible.

High School Memories - T-Shirt Quilt

This past year I had a blast making a T-Shirt Quilt from some High School Sports T-shirts and Jerseys. I made this quilt for a mother was giving her daughter and son-in-law for Christmas. We used a combination of both of their t-shirts from the sports they played and mixed them up to make this beautiful quilt incorporating their school colors.

Team Spirit Quilt

Last year, my daughter and I, made a team rag quilt for her boyfriend for his birthday.  He's a die hard Georgia Bulldog fan. She selected two team prints and a coordinating color to go with it. She also set up a grid of how we could put it together.  This picture doesn't really do it justice, but there was really no good place in my home to lay a quilt out for a picture. She was so excited to have it done, she gave it to him before I got to take a good picture. Later, she took this one with her phone.  We backed it with black flannel so it would be warm and cozy. A rag quilt is pretty simple to make since you just sew the front, batting, and back all together in a block. After making all your blocks, you then sew them together and snip the seams. After washing several times, the edges fray and make the quilt look awesome! I am linking up over at  Hobbies on a Budget  to the Annual Online Quilt Show. 2015 Online Quilt Show

I am so excited!!  Every year about this time my friend Sharon over on Hobbies on a Budget does a very cool online quilt show. No getting out to weather the cold, or the crowds, and it doesn't cost anything. You can browse from the convenience of your home while sitting in bed or on your couch drinking your hot cocoa or coffee.  She has some amazing quilters, both professional and non-professional, display their quilts and tell the stories behind them.  A few years ago I participated by sharing a quilt I made for my mom with photos of our family.  Go HERE to read about it. I am not a big quilter, although I do really enjoy it, when I get a chance to do it.  Last year I made a quilt for my daughter's boyfriend, and hope to enter it in the quilt show this year.  This past November/December I made a t-shirt quilt for a friend of mine. It turned out really pretty, not just your typical sew-all the t-shirts together type quilt....

My Mom's Quilt of Memories

I am excited to be participating in an Online Quilt Show hosted by my friend Sharon's blog Hobbies on a Budget.   This is the story of a quilt I made my mom several years ago. You can't see the pictures as well anymore, they have faded over time, but I am sure it is still serving its purpose.  It was a memory quilt. My parents, you see are missionaries and have been for the last fifteen years.
