This Remains My Son's Favorite Series

My son read the first book in the series several months ago and anxiously (impatiently) awaited the release of book two. Needless to say, he is already pestering me about when book three is coming out! That is how much he likes this series. So far this is one of his favorite series ever! Here is what he had to say... • "The book starts in Ahoratos with Rook saving one of Poneros prisoners [ Finn ] from the Fortress of Chaos. Then Xaiver, Evan, Brianna, and Levi get their shields and their helmets from Ruwach and fight the invisible Ents.  I liked that their shields could only activate when they had faith. I also liked that it had the original characters that were in the first book. My favorite character was Rook, because he was just awesome.  I was excited to read the first chapter in book 3 at the end, but now its even harder to wait until it comes out."

Twice a Slave by Sammy Tippit

Twice a Slave is the story of a Cherokee slave, a forbidden romance, and tragedies that build faith. One man who is determined to find his purpose and discover his identity becomes a slave a second time, and he changes the course of history in Louisiana. It would come as a surprise to the often race–tested churches of the deep–south that the man most responsible for planting Baptists west of the Mississippi River was of mixed race.  Joseph Willis is one of the most fascinating, yet unknown personalities in Evangelical history. He was born into slavery before the American Revolution, the son of a Cherokee mother and an English father who faced incredible difficulties. His story is timeless and inspires the modern heart to overcome insecurities, conquer prejudice between believers, and insurmountable obstacles that unsettle the faithful. Even though Joseph's life was threatened because of his race and faith, he became the first Protestant to preach the gospel west of the Missi...

Each is at a different stage in life: Butch is facing single parenthood. The O’Reillys are expecting their first child. The Andersons are approaching an empty nest, and the Buckleys are so focused on providing their children with everything that they’ve forgotten what they truly need. With just eighteen summers before their children are grown, how do they make the most of that time when life so often gets in the way? As summer flies by, each of these parents must learn about guilt and grace . . . and when to hold on to their kids and when to let go.

Blessed with this book in exchange for an honest opinion. If you’re gonna run for your life, you gotta wear the right shoes. Soon she’s appearing in commercials and magazine ads, and every girl in town wants to wear Riley Mae shoes. Well, except for Riley. It also means sneaking around, hiding, and keeping secrets - because suddenly something isn’t quite right at Swift-river. But a contract’s a contract, so Riley laces up her “Rock Shocker” hiking boots for a climb up Half-Dome in Yosemite. Will they be the right shoes to get her back on solid ground?
