Unexpectedly, Nicole finds more than just a fellow sleuth in a handsome police officer, Mark Stone. But Mark must return to his job in Portland at summer’s end, and Nicole must guard her heart. Mark is hoping for a quiet summer in Sunriver as he contemplates his future in law enforcement, but a string of burglaries draws him from his self-imposed break from detective work and thrusts him into the middle of the investigation. OVERwhelmed by Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory

OVERWHELMED!!! Does that resemble how you feel more often than not? If so, this book IS FOR YOU!!  I cannot say enough good things about this book. It is incredible! Discover what contributes and triggers your overwhelm, how to handle it, and how to restore your sanity. I went through this book reading several chapters a week. Personally, I was able to identify with so much in the book it was amazing! Kathi and Cheri both share the chapters, focusing on personal experiences and what has worked for them. Everyone's overwhelm is different and they cover it all! I love the fact that Kathi doesn't claim to have all the answers, or that her way is the right way, instead, she gives suggestions, encouragement and support for each individual to discover themselves and what works for them.

My Intentional Monday

Well, Christmas is over and a new year is soon to begin. Do you have any new years resolutions? I usually set a few goals but don't make many resolutions.  This is my Personal Manifesto, that I came up with while working through the book, Overwhelmed , by Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory. One of the things Kathi and Cheri suggest is to set the values you want to live by in advance, so when something comes up, you already know how you want to handle the situation. Check out this post on Kathi's website .  I printed my manifesto off and plan on framing it and hanging it up to remind me of the person I want to be.

Updates and Winner of DVD

Probably needless to say, this week I am knee deep in finishing up my Christmas "stuff". I am sewing, crocheting, and wrapping gifts. I have also been finishing up last minute jobs for customers and baking. I had Christmas with some friends on Monday and look at this cute skirt I got! I love it!  I have been reading some great books lately. Not as many as I would like to be getting through, but the ones I have been reading have been really good. I hope you caught my review of Newton and Polly, and also my review of Where Only God Could Lead, The Life Story of Don Sisk. Although one is fiction based on a true story and one is a biography they are both inspirational books. Now for the winner of the Joey and Rory DVD - To Joey with LOVE !

Where Only God Could Lead - The life Story of Don Sisk

I grew up on the mission field, during a time when Brother Don Sisk was the director of my parents mission board, and although I can't say I was closely acquainted with him, I can say his life directly impacted my family's life and the lives of others I knew. He was admired and respected in our home. When I saw this book, I was so excited at the opportunity to read more about this highly esteemed man of God. I can assure you, his story did not disappoint. In fact, it is a testament to God's faithfulness and an encouragement to persevere and remain faithful to our Lord and Savior. Don did not necessarily grow up in a Christian home, with godly parents, and didn't go to church much during his childhood. He came to know Christ in his late teen years, but once he got that settled he was all in! After marrying Virginia, God continued to work

Newton and Polly - The Story Behind Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.  I once was lost, but now am found Although I have heard and sung the song Amazing Grace many times, I don't  think I ever had really heard the story behind it. Jody Hedlund does a wonderful job at bringing that song and backstory to life. In this book you will get to know the characters surrounding the song, and it will make the song even more meaningful to you when you sing. I enjoyed this book immensely. Jody held me captive by Newton's charismatic charm, Polly's innocence and godliness, as well as her strong character. Newton was a bit of a reckless, free will kind of guy, who mostly just went with the flow of whatever he felt like doing until one day, his choices were removed from him by force. Eventually, during dire circumstances, John finds God and His amazing grace.

How To Eat Your ABC's by Theresa A McKeown

In this colorfully illustrated ABC children's book, narrated by BuzzBee, kids will learn about a variety of delicious nutritious foods they can eat. Theresa has included some pretty common ones such as Apples, Berries, Carrots and more, as well as, some you may not be familiar with such as Ugli Fruit and Indian Cress, an edible flower. I will let you guess what she came up with for letters Q and X. Written in a rhyming, poetic style Theresa tells a little about each food, where to find it, how to eat it, etc... This is greatly educational for moms who are looking to eat more nutritiously, and get their kids involved in a fun manner. Kids will love to look for these foods at a local store and try some they never had after reading this book. This book is well illustrated and fairly easy to read. Beginner readers may struggle with the length of the book and a few more difficult words, but it could be a fun challenge, as well as, a great parent to child read. I am excited to shar

Stories from the Bible in a 365 Day Format for Kids

I really liked this "Bible", although, I personally wouldn't call it a Bible. It is really a neat way to display the Bible in your home and remember to read it daily to your kids. This would sit nicely on a dresser or shelf in your child's  room for a bedtime or maybe even a quick morning story. The stories are short and begin with Creation going all the way through the Bible ending with Paul's arrival to Rome. Each day may be a whole story or possibly a part of a longer story such as the story of  Joseph which was divided up over several days.  One thing that I thought could have been added was the Scriptures for the daily readings. They were not included and would be nice if a person wanted to read more of that story or read it directly out of the Bible. There is a reading for each day of the year, numbered at the top. It has a hardback stand that folds out so it can be upright and a spiral top such as a desk calendar.
