I received this book from TBCN and Revell in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not required to give a positive review.

My thoughts:
Having children that span the ages of elementary through young adulthood, I certainly needed to read this book. As a matter of fact, I think God was throwing this book at me saying - You. Need. To. Read. This! Every time I turned around that book was being offered for review or a contest giveaway, or someone was talking about it. So, I finally said, OK! Lord! I get it! :-)

And I am glad I read it. Kathi's advice is so heartfelt and just what I needed to hear. As parents when things go wrong we can often cast too much blame on ourselves, other times when things go right we may take too much of the credit. In reality, God is the one in full control of all the situations and circumstances we go through and we need to really depend on him.

Kathi points out that many times we feel alone, but there are others who have gone through the same things. Maybe we do not know what to do when our child is different - we need God's help and wisdom. Other topics Kathi addresses are -

  • When I feel overwhelmed
  • When my child is struggling
  • When my child lacks character.
Kathi's sense of humor make this book enjoyable to read. She also includes stories from other parents who have been through situations you might be facing and examples from their lives. At the end of each chapter there are prayers both for you and your child.  I would recommend this as a wonderful resources for all parents.

I am already loving that one day I will be able to use it with my grandchildren. It is a hard back padded type cover. The pages are board book style with beautiful illustrations, brightly colored and full of the most adorable farm animals you've ever seen. They will capture your heart, as well as you child's.  Each page consists of a different animal going to sleep, written in poetic style with the animal sound and name of the animal at then end of each prose. The last page affirms how God made all these animals and "me too"! The child will learn about

Told through rhyme from a child's point of view this book on boundaries empowers each child to say no when others approach them in ways that make them uncomfortable. It also gives clear instructions on what to do if they are approached in an unwanted manner. The questions at the end of the book provides an easy transition for counselors and parents to open a discussion to prevent abuse or to further explore if abuse has occurred.
