OPEN My Eyes Lord

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
Psalm 119:18

This is my first time joining the Five-Minute-Friday community,
and it's actually Saturday,
and maybe I won't schedule this til tomorrow - Sunday.
But I have been wanting to do this for a long time, so I'm gonna give it a shot

When I saw today's word - OPEN - the first thing that popped into my head was "open my eyes that I might see". So I looked it up to see if that was a verse or just my imagination that it was. Actually, I think it was more the words of a song, (lyrics below) but the above verse was also one I was thinking of.
Open mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Oh how I want that!! As I get up in the morning to read my Bible, how I want God to open my eyes to see what HE has for me. And then... not just open my eyes, but my ears, and my heart as well. I also want to practice what I read, and apply it to my life.

This week it has been snowing here in our neck of the woods. A rare thing of beauty - and mess and muck too as it begins to melt, gets walked on and trampled with dirt. As I was out playing in the snow with the kids I thought of all the dirt and ugly that it covered. God opened my eyes to the verse in Isaiah - though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; (1:18)
Our yard was beginning to look yucky, but the clean white snow earlier had covered it all and made it beautiful. That is what I look like to God - inspite of myself.

Well my five minutes are up....

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.
Refrain
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!
