Unplanned by Alana Terry - Review

When Kennedy Stern’s childhood pastor asks her to volunteer at his new pregnancy center, she carves time out of her rigorous college schedule to promote the cause of the unborn.

After receiving a disturbing call from someone far too young to carry a child in the first place, Kennedy can no longer blindly hide behind the pro-life platitudes she grew up believing. She resolves to locate the unknown girl but winds up entrenched in a mystery that grows more convoluted as it unfolds.

Soon, Kennedy finds herself a pawn in a deadly game of intrigue, at the mercy of those who consider a few innocent lives a small ransom to pay in exchange for personal and political victory.

This book is available on Amazon in print or e-book.

About the Author:
When she's not blogging and writing, it's likely that she's on the floor wrestling, playing outside or chauffeuring her kids. She also enjoys leading clubs and day camps for homeschoolers (including her kids). Otherwise she is probably hanging out at church with a whole bunch of teenagers and her youth-pastor husband.

Alana Terry has won awards from Women of Faith,
the Book Club Network, Grace Awards, Readers' Favorite, and more. Unplanned was a finalist in the Deep River Books writing contest.

I was blessed with this book by the author in exchange for my review and honest opinion.

My Thoughts:
I was privileged to read the first few chapters of this book as Alana was working on it. I was so into the story that when I ran out of lines, it was awful. I had to wait quite a few weeks before getting to read the climax and ending. Torture!
But it was worth it! I thoroughly enjoyed Kennedy's story.

Kennedy has just returned to the US from China where her parents run a printing business as well as an underground secret seminary for students going to North Korea as missionaries. In spite of spending her time surrounded by these dedicated youth, Kennedy feels her spiritual life is lacking. Kennedy is a pre-med student and because of her busy schedule, has not yet become very involved in her church. In spite of this,  her pastor (a close friend of her parents) asks for her help with the new pregnancy center that is opening. To appease him she agrees to answer the 24 hr call line for a few days while deciding whether she really has time for this with all her studies. Kennedy has no idea how this decision is going to affect her future or her faith.

This book addresses the touchy subject of abortion and the pro-life movement. It deals with issues that can really happen, God's forgiveness, and how we as Christians should approach the whole agenda. Kennedy learns about love, faith, the risks, and the pros and cons of abortion. Included in the story is a bit of politics and much more.

This is a book you will not want to put down. Alana will have you hooked from chapter one.
