ER nurse Macy Wynn learned essential, gritty lessons in the California foster care system: land on your feet and trust no one. She’s finally located the fellow foster child she loves like a sister, but the girl’s in deep trouble. Macy’s determined to help, no matter what it takes. Her motto is to “make it happen” in any situation life throws at her—even when she butts heads with an idealistic cop. Deputy Fletcher Holt believes in a higher plan, the fair outcome—and his ability to handle that by himself if necessary. Now he’s been yanked from Houston, his mother is battling cancer, and he’s attracted to a strong-willed nurse who could be the target of a brutal sniper.
When everything goes wrong, where do they put their trust?

I received this book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest opinion.
My Thoughts:
This book is full of suspense, mystery, and adventure along with a little romance. If you like ER stories or CSI mysteries you will enjoy this book, a combination of serial killer and ER drama.
Macy Wynn a California ER nurse, is talented and capable. Growing up in foster care helped her learn to fend for herself and trust no-one. When Houston cop, Fletcher Holt, moves to town, Macy's guard comes down a little. She begins to see life through new eyes. She has always run from God because of her difficult past. She struggles with surrendering her control over to Him.
Meanwhile, with a shooter on the loose, Macy seems to be coincidentally constantly in his target area. While those around her believe God has a plan for our lives, she feels like her life is falling apart. As the story reaches its climax, both Macy and Fletcher have to discover who they can trust. Is God really in control, are they just puppets on a string, or does He really care about the outcome of each of their lives.
There is so much more to this story... trust, forgiveness, love, faith. As you read you will bond with all the characters in the story. Each has a story of their own as they are tied together to help defeat the shooter and rescue those in his path. Candace has included plenty of food for thought in her writing. Your own faith may be challenged a little.
