Dancing Through Life by Candace Cameron Bure with a GIVEAWAY - *Ended*

WINNER - Melissa Henderson

Candace Cameron Bure has grown up before our eyes and we’ve watched as she’s balanced life in Hollywood with her faith for many years. But that all reached new heights when she was given the opportunity to join the cast of Dancing With the Stars. Being on the show was one of her dreams come true; and with that dream came the opportunity to display her Christian faith in front of millions of people, through an intense season of stretching beyond her limits, and to run the race God gave her with joy and perseverance.

Join Candace as she reflects on the self-discovery that came through leaping out of her comfort zone. Go behind the scenes and experience the highs and lows, the roadblocks, and the personal victories. Hear straight from her heart on tough lessons learned about grace, rejection, perfectionism, disappointment, accountability, dealing with criticism, and more. Through God’s strength, and with the help of endless support from her family and friends, see how Candace stayed true to herself and publicly lived out her faith in Christ all the way to the finale.

How do you stand with conviction in your world? Where does your courage come from when faced with challenges? How do you live out your faith on a daily basis despite opposition? Your stage probably isn’t in Hollywood and the challenges you are facing may not be on live television, but they are no less real. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

My Thoughts:
Since I was such a fan of Full House years ago (still am), I was so excited about the opportunity to read this book. Not only do I get insight into the life of  a movie star, but also a Christian, a mom, and a wife at that. A movie star with a family that has stayed together, a mom who sets a godly example for her children. And honestly, how many Christian Hollywood stars does a person hear about in their lifetime?

Now, I personally was raised very conservative, so that of course, will play in a little on my opinion of the book. Please, keep that in mind. We actually never even had a television growing up. So, needless to say, I myself would not be casting on Dancing with the Stars. But my curiosity was peaked. How can a person not compromise their morals, values, and convictions, as well as, live out their faith in Christ, while movie making and dancing in Hollywood.

I found this book to be incredibly interesting. Honestly, although Candace and I differ some on our fashion opinions, and maybe even our take on modesty, we are in sinc on what it means to live a godly life as far as our inner spirit is concerned. I enjoyed how Candace explained her journey on Dancing With the Stars, and the things she learned spiritually during that journey. In various chapters she describes the dances she performed, the work that went into learning them, how she felt pressure to conform, and the precautions she took not to compromise her convictions. She also involved her husband, and her family, as well as, several of her close friends in her decisions and choices. She talks about the body of Christ as a whole, Christians, who were none too kind when it came to giving their opinions of her actions, and how that affected her. But how, she was able to keep her head up because her main goal was pleasing the Lord, not pleasing man.

Would I recommend this book, Yes! Do I agree with her on everything, No! But it is honestly not my place to judge another sister in Christ on her opinions. She has some wonderful things to say in this book about our attitude as Christians, being a Christian mom, taking time for your children, being a submissive wife, praying and following the leadership of the Holy Spirit in your life. I am sure her upbringing and mine differ drastically, but as part of the body of Christ, we believe much the same. I really enjoyed getting an inside look at celebrity life lived through another believer. And I pray her testimony leads many people to Jesus.

  1. I most definitely watched get on dancing with the stars. I rooted for her big time. I think being a Christian in Hollywood would be hard but I think the biggest way to show your faith would be in the jobs you choose and the people you choose to hang out with. Also using your celebrity to stand up for your convictions.

  7. I did not get to watch her on DWTS. I do believe Candace sets a good example of Christian living just by the way she expresses herself and the way she shows love to her family and others.
