My Thoughts:
As soon as my daughter saw this book, she wanted to read it! We love Berenstain Bears.
This is a very cute version of the Christmas story.  It's Christmas Eve and Papa Bear is settling down the little bears by reading them a story. What better story to read than the very first Christmas.  It begins with the angel giving Mary the good news that she is going to have a baby. The story follows the well known tale of Mary and Joseph going to Bethlehem, the birth announced to the shepherds, and their visit in the night. It continues with the wise men sighting the star and seeking the child. I was very appreciative of the fact that true to Scripture, the wise men actually arrive at a house not the stable and baby Jesus is not a babe, but a toddler.

The story is well illustrated in Berenstain bear fashion with all the characters including Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and wise men are all "bears". At the end of the book there are questions and activities. I am pretty sure this book will be in our library for a good while.

  1. I love the Berenstain Bears. We still have copies of their stories from many, many years ago when our son was little. He is 32 years old now. :-) We are saving them for our grandchildren.

    1. I still have young children, but I also have grandkids so I know how you feel about sharing them. One of my favorite books by Berenstain bears was the one on them forgetting their manners.
