Looking Forward...

WoW!!!
I can't believe Christmas is over and the New Year is almost here. In spite of my best intentions, last week went by in a flurry of activity and I just couldn't seem to get any blogging done. But I did finish up a book or two, so this week, Lord willing, should be filled with reviews.

Our creek behind our house is full and roaring with all this rain we are having. And boy, what weather? I don't know what part of the country you are in but seems like each area is having it's own unique weather issues. Ours seems to be warmer than usual temps and lots of rain! I can't say I am not enjoying the warm weather though since I am not much of a winter person, and the cold will come... soon enough. But all the rain can get a bit on the depressing side after a while. God is still on the throne though and He knows what He is doing!

I hope your Christmas celebrations went off without a hitch. Ours was wonderful. We celebrated on various days with different family members. And had a quiet Christmas day at home with the kids. It was such a joy to see the look on their eyes and the smile on their faces as they opened gifts.
We pulled off a bit of a treasure hunt with my son for his much awaited gift. And had fun watching him "search" for the clues to his treasure.
My young daughter's eyes lit up when she opened her doll, she has been wanting. And the oldest, well, most of her gifts pertained to the upcoming home she will be establishing in the new year.

I spent almost every week day finishing up some sewing project for this kids or friends, including a carrying bag for my daughter's Cricut, a Bible cover for youngest, and a tote bag for a friend that looks like a book shelf. As much as I love to read, I really enjoyed whipping up that one.
We also had a cookie baking day with friends. I honestly, can't say if I baked, talked, laughed, or ate more!! It was sweet and enjoyable.

Christmas Eve we went to a candlelight service which was very serene and peaceful and for me totally reflected the Christmas spirit and brought into focus the reason we celebrate - Jesus! Not just the baby in the manger, but the reason he came - the cross. To save a sinner such as I, and everyone else in the world.

So, there's a look at my holiday week in a nutshell.

Now, I look forward, and press on to the mark - a new year, new beginnings, new goals, and a new word.
I don't know if you have ever chosen a word for the year, but for the last several years I have been choosing one. One Word - to keep me focused back the main thing all year long. And for this coming year's word - you'll have to come back and read later.

Better go for now! But will be back soon!! Would love to hear about your Christmas and New Years plans.
