Confident Mondays

Confidence
trusting in Christ's sufficiency over my own
2 Corinthians 3:18
"And we all, ... are being transformed into His image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
Seems like God is always testing us, challenging us, and molding us into His character. This year my word is Confidence. Over and over, I have seen that Confidence is not something about myself that I develop or achieve, instead it is trusting in Christ and what He can do through me.

At the end of last year and the beginning of this year, I had a proposed challenge to accomplish - re-designing a wedding gown. A friend of mine's daughter was getting married. She wanted to use her mother's wedding gown, but update it to a more modern look. In my own strength and ability I had no confidence, but with the Lord's help I was able to do it. It was so exciting to watch her walk down the aisle.

More recently, God has allowed other challenges in my life, such as a family member's health issues. But He
has continuously shows himself faithful, and in doing so strengthens my faith and my confidence!
Summer is in full swing! We are enjoying some "lazy" days,  some home project days, fishing, spending time with friends, and other fun things. The kids are learning to work hard (sort-of), while also having time to relax. I am busy working on a few much needed home-improvement projects, sewing projects, reading, and getting ideas for Vacation Bible School in July. Below are a few of the latest projects I have been working on.
Super Hero Cape for a little boy who is battling cancer

Baby Bibs for a Baby Shower

Owl hand warmers for my daughter.
Yeah... I know it's summer, but she got this yarn back in the winter and I had not gotten around to making them yet. A couple of days in a freezing hospital room keeping someone company was the perfect time to crochet them.

A few of the books I am reading include
Love this author and am so excited about this book.

Very inspirational and convicting!

  1. We are lucky to live close to our local botanical garden and also to a local park that will both have free concert series this summer. We have made it our goal to get to as many of those as possible. Our count is at 3 so far!

  2. Amy, I love this glimpse into your life. The wedding dress you redesigned is beautiful. What a great talent! I took two years of home economics in high school, but never really caught on to sewing. If a button falls off, I'd rather replace the garment than try to sew it back on.

I haven't been able to keep up with your posts because I've been consumed with my son's medical problems since February. Sounds like you've had a similar situation with your family. You're in my prayers, Amy.
