Chasing Secrets by Lynnette Eason

Intensity. Skill. Tenacity.
The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all.
Elite Guardians bodyguard Haley Callaghan may be in South Carolina, but when a photo leads investigators in West Ireland to open a twenty-five-year-old cold case, her life is suddenly in danger. Haley knows how to take care of herself; after all, she's made a career out of taking care of others. But after an uncomfortably close call, Detective Steven Rothwell takes it upon himself to stay with her--and the young client she has taken under her wing. A protector at heart, he's not about to let Haley fight this battle alone.

In a sweeping plot that takes them into long-buried memories--and the depths of the heart--Haley and Steven will have to solve the mystery of Haley's past while dodging bullets, bombs, and bad guys who just won't quit.

My Take:
This book is action packed from the first chapter. Lynette will keep you on the edge of your seat, wondering who is guilty, what is going to happen next,  when is this crazy roller coaster ride gonna end, and who will survive!

Once more the members of the Elite Guardians come together to protect, defend, and take care of their own as well as others around them. Haley is compassionate and caring. I love her attitude about life, and the way she enjoys doing things for the less fortunate and helping them overcome, because she understands where they're coming from. There's a pretty cool twist to the story involving Haley's background, and I loved watching it all play out.

Steve, a cop, recently moved to town is a pretty cool guy too! He shows up just in time to jump into the action with Haley. Will he stand the test? Both of them have past memories to unlodge and deal with. I enjoyed how their story begins with a spark but doesn't over ride the suspense and mystery, instead its slow steady background progress.

The message of forgiveness, mercy, and grace is all over this book, focusing on various characters. Lynette did  an awesome job of adding it, but not preaching it. It flows smoothly throughout the story as the characters take time to process what has happened and is happening to them, along with their feelings and emotions. Forgiveness is not easy or natural.

The book ends with an unexpected twist! It's definitely worth the read, as are all the books in this series. It can be read in order or as a stand alone.

I was blessed with a free copy of this book from Revell to read. I was not required to review this book positively and all opinions are my own.
