What Determines a Knight or Blackguard? Including a Giveaway

Re-Released with a GORGEOUS new cover!!

From the moment they met, Tillie and Noah wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, but a deliberate omission will keep them apart-and that same omission will be responsible for the escape of a murderer, and a bride's deception.

South Dakota: 1975. Eighteen-year-olds could order 3.2 beers in a bar and loaded guns were kept under the counter. Frankie Valli sang My Eyes Adored You, and American soldiers returning from Vietnam struggled with their new reality.
It’s within this tumultuous season of American history that Tillie Caselli meets Noah Hansen, and they are never the same again. Their lives were mysteriously intertwined – and had been for many years – yet they had no idea.

Meet Ta`Mara Hanscom:

Tamara long ago became one of my favorite authors. Not only did I fall in love with her books, but after becoming friends with her, I have come to admire the person that she is.

She was born and raised in South Dakota, and has a deep love for Italy and her colorful chronology.

Her favorite sport is baseball – Detroit Tigers – and she can’t wait until the next time she gets to see them play in Comerica Park.

She lives for the next family barbeque.

Tamara and her husband own a national pizza franchise in Iowa, where they currently reside. They have three grown children and one grandson.

She teach AWANA Cubbies and speak at women’s events, and writes Bible studies for her Sunday School Class.

My Take:
I fell in love with this story the first time I read it. The characters, the location, and the Caselli's came to life for me and I haven't forgotten them since. Reading this book again was like having coffee with an old friend I haven't seen in a few years. This is my third time around, and I will likely read it again through the years.

What do I love about this book? It's realistic! This story could be any of our stories. Family secrets, sheltering parents, sins of omission, and so much more! The book was so realistic to me, at first, I thought it was based on a true story and started attempting to google the Caselli's, only to find out, they truly are a fictional family! I admire their love for family, for each other, their desire to protect their own, and their love for God. They are not perfect, and there are regrets, but they are real.

Noah is probably one of my favorite characters, aside from Tillie's brother, Marquette. Although he starts out a bit on the rebellious side, Noah is a man after my own heart. God does a work in his life. He demonstrates sacrificial love and is a hard working man, someone to be proud of!

Tillie is young, she sneaks behind her parents backs for a bit of adventure, when she shouldn't; but doesn't stand up for herself when you feel like she should. And yet, you can't really help but cheer for her and hope it all turns out well in the end. There is so much potential... And it is so hard knowing... what she doesn't know. I just wanted to TELL her!!

This story's ending may throw you for a loop but only long enough to make you want to pick up book two. It may take a little while to really get to know the characters in the story, but trust me... It is worth the read!! I really enjoy Christian fiction, but sometimes it feels a bit too fairy-tale-ending, when real life is not always like that. Maybe that is one reason this book really stood out for me. It's a diamond in the rough!

I received this book courtesy of the author and Litfuse Publicity. All opinions are my very own and I was not asked or required to review this book positively.
