My Thoughts:
The day these readers arrived in the mail, my daughter confiscated them quickly and ran off to her room to read. Which is pretty cool because she does not really enjoy reading. She spent most of that afternoon in her room reading and doing the games/puzzles at the end.
She has always struggled with reading and suffers from a bit of dyslexia, but she does want to read and tries, so she is always excited when I get books she can read on her own with out alot of help. Later we sat down and read them together. I found there were a few words that were a little more difficult to read, but overall it was pretty simple. Of course this particular level is for kids who read with confidence.
The stories are well illustrated with attractive pictures, beautiful scenery, amazing characters, and some fun games at the end. Purple turtle and friends not only teach reading skills but also life skills. One particular book we read was about one of the friends being selfish and apologizing at the end of the story. They also teach things like shapes, opposites, healthy eating, months of the year, and more. As a homeschooling mom, I was pretty impressed.
All the stories we read together were fun and exciting. I think her favorite was one about a magic show, because that is something she enjoys doing regularly - putting on a show.
I would certainly recommend these readers.
I received a box of readers courtesy of the publisher and iReadBookTours. I was not asked or required to review them positively. All opinions are my own.

This sounds like a wonderful series - thanks for the great review!
ReplyDeleteIt is encouraging to find series of books that reluctant readers especially enjoy.
