What if. . .
. . .you struggled with infertility but unknowingly befriended your husband’s pregnant mistress?
What if. . .
. . .the woman you were seeing behind your wife’s back gets pregnant, threatening your job and marriage?
What if. . .
. . .your boyfriend never told you he was married and you discover you’re pregnant?
Crisis pregnancy worker Marissa Moreau suspects her husband is cheating, but little does she know how close to home her husband’s infidelity hits. College student Kaitlyn Farrows is floundering after a
relationship with her professor leaves her pregnant. Soon she lands a job and a support system at the local pregnancy resource center and things seem to be turning around. But when Marissa and Kaitlyn become friends, neither one knows they share a connection—Colin, Marissa’s husband and Kaitlyn’s former professor. When their private lives collide, the two women must face the ultimate test of their faith and choose how to move forward as they live in the shadows of hope.

About the Author:
Georgiana Daniels resides in the beautiful mountains of Arizona with her super-generous husband and three talented daughters. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor's degree in public relations and now has the privilege of homeschooling by day and wrestling with the keyboard by night. She enjoys sharing God's love through fiction and is exceedingly thankful for her own happily ever after.
My Take:
This book grabbed me from the start. It was tough to put it down. I just wanted to keep reading!! Although the story-line is a bit of a tough read and very realistic, it is also really good. Be prepared to be drawn in emotionally. I could so easily relate to various characters in the book and the intense emotions going on there.
This book deals with various tough subjects, infertility, adultery, trust issues, pregnancy out of wedlock. Each character felt real and the emotions were raw. I liked how the author portrayed not just their faults and failures but opportunities for growth, change, and forgiveness. It was easy to feel the character's struggles. The faith aspect woven throughout the book was subtle but there. The main character, Marissa, seems pretty solid in her faith, but she has alot of issues to work on. Her husband is not really interested in the whole God thing, although his close friend is a Christian, and tries to influence him towards God. The other main character, Kaitlyn, hasn't really practiced her faith well, and is wrestling with whether God hears her or cares about her problems, since she hasn't really been faithful to him. Tristan seems to give good advice for the most part, although at times it felt like he might be hoping the marriage would fail, and wasn't necessarily encouraging Marissa to stick it out.
A few things that bothered me were Marissa's mom's attitude. Even though, I understand a bit from experience, she kind of annoyed me a little. Marissa's relationship with Tristan was a little confusing, maybe a bit too personal, although I didn't really feel like it was unrealistic, because there are people out there that have best friends from the opposite sex even when they are married. I am not sure I agree that it is appropriate, though, and it could definitely cause problems. I also felt like the end was kind of left up in the air, sort of like you could fill in your own ending, instead of tied up with a neat little bow. It just wasn't clearly defined. Maybe the author is leaving it open for a sequel? That would be nice. In the end, I felt like this was reality, life isn't beautiful and doesn't always end up neat and tidy. It's hard, gritty, challenging, takes work and lots of prayer and faith to get through.
I would recommend this book to those who don't mind reading the tough stuff, and can think for themselves about the hard issues we all face. I received my copy courtesy of Barbour Publishing. I was not required to post a review. All opinions are my own.
