100 Words of Affirmation Your Husband Needs to Hear by Lisa Jacobson

100 Words of Affirmation Your Husband Needs to HearEvery one of us has tremendous power to either build others up or tear them down through the words we speak every day, and nowhere is this more evident than in our marriages. Are you being purposeful in how you use the power of your words to speak encouragement, strength, and love--breathing life into the heart of your spouse? Or are careless words having a negative impact on your marriage and on the heart of the one you love most?

Matt and Lisa Jacobson want you and your spouse to discover the powerful ways you can build one another up in love with the words that you choose to say every day--words that every husband and wife need to hear. These books offer you 100 Things to say to your husband or wife that deeply encourage, affirm, and inspire. Start speaking these words into each other's lives and watch your spouse--and your relationship--transform before your eyes.

My Thoughts:

I put this book into practice right off the bat! It was actually bit humorous at first, but somewhat effective. I sat down with my husband and started reading the words of affirmation - "I love what you build with your hands", "You are the best man I know", "I need you", "I'm sticking with you when everything falls apart".  The kids were kind of laughing and hating all the "mushy" stuff.  And some of it was kind of awkward actually, so yes, this is going to take some practice. But it was fun and interesting to see his reactions.

Ok... So I know that wasn't exactly how this book was designed to be used. It has a new phrase on each page. Each page also includes a short story to go with the phrase. Most of the stories are personal experiences the author and her husband and family have gone through. They included things he had done for her, ways he may have defended her, protected her, laughed with her.  She reminds us in these tales to encourage our men, our husbands; to build them up instead of tearing them down.

I can definitely learn a lot from this book. I would definitely recommend it.

I received a copy of this book courtesy of Revell. I was not asked to review this book positively. All opinions are my own.
