The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson

What happens when a margrave realizes he's fallen in love with a servant? The Margrave of Thornbeck has to find a bride, fast. He invites ten noble-born ladies from around the country to be his guests at Thornbeck Castle for two weeks, a time to test these ladies and reveal their true character. Avelina is only responsible for two things: making sure her deception goes undetected and avoiding being selected as the margrave's bride. Since the latter seems unlikely, she concentrates on not getting caught. No one must know she is merely a maidservant, sent by the Earl of Plimmwald to stand in for his daughter, Dorothea. Despite Avelina's best attempts at diverting attention from herself, the margrave has taken notice. And try as she might, she can't deny her own

The BENEFIT of Grace by Ruth Burton

SOMETIMES THE HARDEST PERSON TO FORGIVE IS YOURSELF A tragedy in her young life sent Kate fleeing from her rural Tennessee hometown immediately after high school graduation. She believes both God and her church let her down when she needed them most. A dozen years later, when pressured into returning for her sick aunt's community fundraiser, an adult Kate faces the fallout from her part in the teenage heartbreak. For years, she has blamed God for turning His back on her--but now she begins to wonder if she were the one who abandoned Him. Murder on Safari by Peter Riva

Only a reality TV producer and an expert safari guide can stop a terrorist attack. Every adventure starts at the fringes of civilization. For expert safari guide Mbuno and wildlife television producer Pero Baltazar, filming in the wild of East Africa should have been a return to the adventure they always loved. This time they’d be filming soaring vultures in northern Kenya and giant sea crocodiles in Tanzania with Mary, the daughter of the world’s top television evangelist, the very reverend Jimmy Threte.

My Intentional Monday

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. - Socrates. Life is finally getting back in the groove, but it seems like the changes haven't really stopped whether I am ready for them or not.  I am gonna have to work on building the new, because some change is just inevitable. I have been working on catching up on my reading. I am really excited to be reading a book by an author right here in my hometown. It was released just this month! It's exciting and a little weird to be reading a book set in the town you live in. In my mind I keep trying to place people, you know with last names being similar, locations, businesses, well, you can't really help thinking this could be a "real" story. So much of it is familiar. And yet, It is fictional, so though the characters may be based on some real person, the story itself is not.  I can't wait to share it with you. It's available on Amazon  for only $9....

Girls Slimline Holy Bible

This Bible is a very nice attractive Bible for girls. With a beautiful cover of blue that has a velvety feel bound with glittery silver and the word LOVE in pink, it will be the pride of those who carry it. The back cover has a cruise and the words "bold faith". I got it for one of my granddaughters, but my daughter wanted one too after taking a look at it. It contains the entire Bible in the New Living Translation version. Although that is not my particularly favorite version of the Bible to read it is a bit easier to understand than some. I did read through some of my favorite passages to make sure the meaning was still clear.  For example Ephesians 2:8-9 reads like this: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God.  Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Prince Warriors by Priscilla Shirer

The battle is real . As brothers, Xavier and Evan are used to battling each other. But now they’re discovering that there is a much bigger battle going on all around them. And it’s their turn to fight. Xavier, Evan, and their friends have typical lives until they enter a mysterious land called Ahoratos. There they meet their guide, Ruwach, who offers wisdom and direction as the kids’ initial adventure begins—an adventure filled with armor and danger and a very real enemy.

Kathryn Kelly by Barbara Casey

Kathryn Kelly: The Moll Behind "Machine Gun" Kelly  is a biography of the woman who made a career of crime. With a lust for danger, she masterminded the crimes that took her and her husband, and others who included her own mother and stepfather, on a spree across Minnesota, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Texas. Starting with smaller crimes that included bootlegging, smuggling liquor onto an Oklahoma Indian reservation, and other petty crimes, she encouraged her husband, George Barnes aka George Kelly, toward a life of more serious criminal activity that eventually escalated into bank robberies, kidnapping and extortion. Many believe that it was Kathryn, after giving him a machine gun, who developed George's feared

The End of Law By Thérèse Down

Two SS officers—both involved in Hitler's Final Solution, both in love with a beautiful woman— but only one can live with his conscience  Thérèse Down delivers a powerful story set in Berlin in the 1930s and early 1940s and woven around the fortunes of three people: an ambitious SS officer, Walter Gunter; his naíve wife, Hedda; and a guilt-ridden SS officer, Karl Muller.   Gunter— intensely loyal to the Third Reich, entirely ruthless, with dreams of military renown—is outraged to be placed in charge of the T4 euthanasia program.   Muller, an engineer and trainee doctor, reluctantly oversees the safe delivery of lethal gases and drugs to the killing centers, and is required to convert shower rooms and bathrooms into gas chambers in commandeered hospitals and prisons. Both detest their jobs.

The Mapmaker’s Children By SARAH MCCOY

When Sarah Brown, daughter of abolitionist John Brown, realizes that her artistic talents may be able to help save the lives of slaves fleeing north, she becomes one of the Underground Railroad’s leading mapmakers, taking her cues from the slave code quilts and hiding her maps within her paintings. She boldly embraces this calling after being told the shocking news that she can’t bear children, but as the country steers toward bloody civil war, Sarah faces difficult sacrifices that could put all she loves in peril.    Eden, a modern woman desperate to conceive a child with her husband, moves to an old house in the suburbs and discovers a porcelain head hidden in the root cellar—the remains of an

My Intentional Monday (On Friday)

Not sure if this post is early or late, I guess it will depend on your perspective. These past few weeks have been a flurry of activity. After finishing alterations on nine prom dresses the week before last; then working on favors for my daughter's wedding, decorations, making her veil, and many other things that needed done last week, I truly have not had any time to read or blog. I am looking forward to life settling down just a bit and getting back into a routine. My "new normal", whatever that may be. The wedding was a lot of work, but Oh! so worth it! It was beautiful, went off without a hitch, and now my little girl is definitely all grown up (not that she really wasn't before) but now that she's on her own, I am feeling it in a whole new way. My two girls The youngest none too excited that the oldest is leaving her
